Ten-time WNBA All-Star and four-time Olympic gold medalist Tamika Catchings from Duncanville won back in 1997 before becoming a Hall of Famer. Brittney Griner from Houston Nimitz captured the award in 2009 before becoming an eight-time WNBA All-Star and two-time Olympic gold medalist. Nneka Ogwumike from Cy-Fair won back-to-back Gatorade state awards in 2007 and 2008 before becoming a WNBA MVP, and Ariel Atkins from Duncanville won in 2013 and went on to become a WNBA champion.
